I am a Assistant Innkeeper at a Bed and Breakfast in California. I am trying to find the labor law that applies to this situation. My Innkeeper would like to have one of our employees stay the night so he can finally go on vacation. However, we do not know how much pay the employee should receive. We do know that it is considered an 8 hour shift if the sleep overnight but how much pay? Would it be minimum wage? Less or more?

Please help. Thank you.

Would it be legal to run a business, a delivery business for example, not one where the customers would enter the premises, from a residential address for example a house or flat?

Would this be affected by whether the house was not lived in aswell?
