Advice on running a business with friends?

I have a business that is starting up this fall – we have a lot of loan closing meetings, pre-construction, title opinion for the city, etc. I also have two friends that are going into the business with me. I want to be fully in charge, but I know that there will be too much for me to handle, so my friend Dave will help with a lot of the major paper work. My other friend Kyle, he actually has no professional experience in running a business, so I was thinking about designating him to more secretarial kind of work.

Problem is that Kyle has a problem with me being his authority, is usually unpunctual, and care-free. He also argues a lot with both Dave and me. He is one of my best friends, but he is extremely unreliable. His best quality though is that he is a fast learner and is a great people person. I’d say his worst characteristic is that he isn’t invested in the business – he doesn’t own any of it, he just wants a quick and easy job.

Am I being too nice by letting him be involved? How should I handle this in a professional way that also keeps my friendship? Please help, thanks!

I have owned and been in the restaurant business for over 40 years.?

Being that is all I know, what are other options of work for someone who is 60 years old and without a college education. Would advising other business owners about running a business be an option if I don’t have a degree? What are other obvious choices?

My husband is trying to run a successful business…?

I have been doing the basic filing of paperwork & billing for them since the beginning of Feb this year, His mother has been doing the books. She knows alot more about running a business than I do, as for me, well I know computers, A/R & billing. We were having a conversation earlier about running a successful business, I gave her my opinion & things were blown very quickly out of proportion. He can’t afford to pay the drivers by the books, so he pays them under the table, I simply stated it would be hard to get a good start on a business by lying & cheating the government. What are your opinions on it?

Should I request signing a majority stake from my business partner?

I am about to go into a business partnership with someone who recently became more of a good friend with. I actually came up with the business idea and have the IT skills while he has the experience of running a business and networking with the right people.
I am worried
-if I should tell him that we agree on the percentage of ownership rights
-if I should also let him know that I want to own a majority stake in the business
-would this destroy our friendship?

before we go deep into developing the business idea.
